life is all about Uncovering
For my last lunch on Guam, I decided to treat my mom to this newly opened restaurant on Guam. Guam's first pizzeria, Crust Pizzeria Napoletana. One of the waiter told me that it was opened in mid January of 2016. I have never been to a pizzeria in my entire life so I was quite excited to visit one. Modern style interior set-ups with classic atmospheric touch. I reckoned that I cannot grasp the true atmosphere of the restaurant during lunch because most of the lighting were off. Their menu was double sided and I loved the simplicity of it. Even if it's a small looking menu, it contained numerous and diverse selection of items to choose from. (I've never seen or heard most of the items and its ingredients on the menu. Naturally, I had to secretly google the images for me to grasp what it actually is supposed to be.) Going to a new restaurant, as always, I had to fight my urge to order more than what I can actually eat in order to satisfy my adventurous spirit. However, I calmly ordered a salad and one of their signature wood fired pizza. Alba (800° Wood Fired Pizza) The little pancetta pieces mostly balanced the saltiness of the pizza in its entirety. Tomato sauce was mild and simple. Over easy egg in the middle was iconic, but wasn't too special. Their home-made mozzarella cheese pieces lightly tossed on the pizza was savory, creamy, juicy, and chewy. The hand tossed dough absorbed the wood smoke nicely and was a great base for the pizza. Would order again if I ever get the chance to finish all their other pizzas because they all sounded interesting as well. A great and simple pizza to fulfill an average day lunch. Crust™ Caprese + Optional shrimp addition. My mom and I were both quite surprised of the fact that this salad was completely out of our expectations, visually. First off, 80% of the whole salad is their home-made mozzarella cheese. I thought there would be more basil or lettuce or some vegetable shenanigans within the little hill of cheese, but it was just more cheese beneath it. I mean, as a crazy cheese fanatic, I couldn't and didn't complain. As much as I've enjoyed the visuals, I did enjoy the taste. The same creamy and savory mozzarella cheese that was also used for the Alba pizza. The little hints of sea salts over the salad and basil leaf was subtle. And the basil concentrated balsamic balanced the flavors. Savory and creamy goodness of this salad was a pleasure to my taste bud. Wood fire oven and pizzas made right off the kitchen counter next to the tables. Trying to take picture of the oven when one of the staffs poses for me. Along with the receipt, the cashier handed me their promotional card.
Too bad this is my first and probably will be my last time visiting here :( Goodbye Guam for a while !
